I recently watched Bryce Dallace Howard’s interview with Marie Forleo and loved when she said that. It resonated with me because alongside my own challenges, I have seen others in my life, including my beautiful clients, encounter challenges that have really made them feel broken, depressed, and dysfunctional.

Healing soul trauma involves understanding the ways in which your soul has been fragmented through certain experiences that have in turn, left you to acquire limiting beliefs and emotions that perpetuate a negative story within your psyche. This of course, creates an energetic imbalance that only attracts more of the same experience as opposed to something new that is in alignment with who you can be at your highest potential.

To illustrate the concept of soul trauma better, consider a relationship break-up as an example. Most people are familiar with or can imagine the pain that can be caused by this experience. It can lead to all sorts of feelings – anger, sadness, frustration, etc. Let’s say you were rejected – that can lead you to acquire the self-limiting belief of not being good enough. At this point, think about the damage done to your energy system – your heart chakra and astral field are already out of whack, as is your sacral chakra and emotional body. Add in the self-limiting belief, and your solar plexus and mental body takes a hit as well.

The way to correct these imbalances in energy healing is to conduct a soul retrieval – the idea being that the parts of yourself that were whole, complete and functional were left behind at the moment of the traumatic experience and must be retrieved. This isn’t something that energy healers can do by themselves – it is very much a collaborative effort with the person seeking healing, that involves the person facing their experiences from the past and identifying what self-limiting beliefs and emotions have been acquired as a result of those experiences. Then the person has to change the negative story playing in their psyche (i.e. I am not good enough) to a positive one (i.e. I am good enough but wasn’t valued by that person, so there is someone out there that will value me for who I am). This entire process can occur through self-reflection, introspection, or work with a professional such as a therapist.

The energy healer has the job of sending healing energy to assist with releasing repressed emotions and beliefs as a result of the traumatizing experience and reversing the damage done to the energy fields. People often have greater self-awareness after getting energy healing done – there is clarity that helps them to better identify the source of their problems and a positive outlook that provides them with the desire to move forward in a new direction.

Once the person reaches this point, the healing will begin to take effect and the person will begin to overcome their negative story and attract more positive experiences.

Moving Through Trauma With Grace
I have been thinking a lot about the nature of grace recently and I am starting to appreciate it more and more. It is often said that how a person weathers their storm is reflective of their character and I have always admired those who have handled their challenges with grace.

Upon encountering challenges, it’s very easy to turn to escapist behaviour, including addictions, which is why it’s important from an energy healing perspective to also focus on keeping the solar plexus strong (this is the center of willpower) and sacral chakra (the center of emotions, which feed addictions or co-dependent behaviours). Without these energy centers staying strong, a person can resort to avoiding having to deal with their challenges instead of overcoming them in a healthy way.

It is also important to heal the crown chakra, which is the center of faith. When you realize that everything happens for a reason, even if you can’t see it in the present moment, you are trusting a divine intelligence that is at work for your own personal growth, spiritual development, and higher good. Trust in this intelligence can fast-track your recovery, especially if you choose to stay connected with this higher energy through your challenges. This is perhaps the most difficult part of healing soul trauma, for it is often difficult to keep the faith when you feel like you have been victimized and it’s often a shift in perspective or spiritual understanding that can assist in this regard.

While the process of healing soul trauma can be difficult and take time, it can change a person’s being and life, which makes it well worth the effort.

How to Overcome an Existential Crisis

You know that feeling that causes you to question your current circumstance and wonder if there’s something better for you? It may be disenchantment, a lack of motivation or boredom that prompts you to ask the question.

Sometimes asking that question can result in experiencing a full-out existential crisis, where you find yourself wondering whether your life has any purpose, meaning or value.

And while this all seems very sad and dreary, the truth is that existential crises are good – it’s a sign that your soul is telling you that you’re in the wrong place and you need to take action to get yourself back on path.

Overcoming an Existential Crisis Through Energy Healing
The chakra that is associated with understanding one’s life purpose is the crown chakra. If you are going through an existential crisis, chances are that your crown chakra is closed or imbalanced.

Other chakras that are associated with existential crises are the third eye chakra, which is the energy centre of insight and the throat chakra, which is the energy center that allows you to express your purpose in the world.

Working on these chakras through energy healing can assist with providing clarity regarding your purpose and what steps you need to take to live a soulful life.

Here are some other tips on how you can overcome an existential crisis:

Pay Attention to Your “Haunting Hobbies”
You know those things that you love to do but feel like you have no time for them and yet they continue to possess your mind? Craft space in your life to follow through on them. If you feel like something is missing in your life without them, chances are that they are meant to be part of your life path and purpose.

Consult with People You Respect
Sometimes when you lose faith in yourself and have a lack of mental clarity, the people who are dearest to you can remind you of your uniqueness and what you can contribute to the world. Also pay attention to any compliments you may receive from them or others – if someone tells you that you are good at something, consider whether it’s a skill or activity that you’d like to pursue and develop.

Get Away
Sometimes when you are caught up in the day-to-day activities of your busy life, it’s hard to take a step back and give yourself a reality check. Plan a mini-getaway or even a day where you are far-removed from your usual activities so you can contemplate on what you need to do to get things moving in the direction you’d like.

Have Patience
Change takes time so be sure to focus on the silver lining in your current circumstance while you await the fruitful return of your action steps.

Remember that it’s in your control to end your existential crisis – so embrace your inner power and create change!

Is Your Root Chakra on Overdrive? Stay in the Now and Care for Yourself!

I’ve fallen sick and I’m not surprised because my root chakra was in complete disarray these past couple of weeks.

The problem was that I was trying to do too many things at once, which left my energy scattered and ungrounded. I was waking up early, going to work, coming back home, exercising, cooking my vegan meals and doing distance healing sessions. Add in some social commitments and teaching energy healing classes over the weekend  – I was left with no time to myself.

One night I found myself rushing to the kitchen to cook my meals for the next day. As I was whipping up a smoothie bowl, I suddenly felt an energy shift in my back and shoulders. I stopped the blender and contemplated what the energy was. It was tight, scattered and tense – stress.

I literally laughed at myself – I was getting stressed over making a smoothie bowl. I mean, come on. It’s hilarious how a busy schedule makes even the smallest of things seem like daunting, stressful tasks.

I also realized that I was approaching the simple task of making my meals as yet another item to mark off my checklist instead of really stopping and connecting with what I was doing.

A healthy root chakra is all about being in the present moment and grounding yourself.

I realized that instead of approaching the task of cooking with a “this has to get done” mentality, I simply had to shift my thought process over to something else. For me, it was recognizing that I was taking out the time to prepare healthy meals that would nourish my body. Suddenly, a disconnected, annoying task shifted into an act of self-love. That made my root, solar plexus and heart chakras very happy!

Always approach taking care of your body as an act of self-love instead of being frustrated or annoyed with it. That can easily happen because lets face it – you do have to take extra time out of your schedule to commit to a healthy lifestyle. It’s not always that convenient. Plus, our bodies can do very random and odd things that we don’t understand. It’s easy to get annoyed or frustrated instead of treating them with gentle, loving care.

Of course, the moment I got the sniffles I realized that I was carrying all that stress in my system for the past couple of weeks. Out came my energy healing tools and I am well on my way to a complete recovery. It’s amazing what energy healing and a healthy diet can do for you.

So if you find yourself on root-chakra overdrive, try to stay in the now and shift your perception of your self-care tasks. Taking care of your body is so important! Your root chakra will love you for it! 🙂
