Chakra Friendly & Healthy Snacks

You may be making healthy meal choices but what about your snack choices? Around 3 o’clock in the afternoon, do you get the urge to grab a cup of coffee, a can of soda, or a muffin loaded with refined sugar? Doing this once in a while is okay but repeatedly making poor snacking choices can adversely affect your health.

The goal of healthy snacking is to consume foods and beverages that provide you with natural energy without having to resort to sugar and caffeine. The latter will trick your adrenal system into the false perception of having a lot of energy, which will only last for a couple of hours before you get the urge to reach for more sugar or caffeine. This starts an unhealthy, vicious cycle.

The problem with unhealthy snacking from an energy medicine perspective is that it adversely affects your root chakra. Since your root chakra is closely connected with your physical health and is the foundation for the rest of your energy centers, any imbalance it in can affect your overall health and well-being.

The following snacks are chakra friendly as they are sugar free, caffeine free and calorie and nutrient conscious!

Celery Sticks Dipped in Almond Butter
This is a great snack packed with fiber and protein. It’s very filling and is super easy to transport, making it a good snack to take to work or travel with.

Kale & Lettuce Salad with Quinoa & Grapes
This salad is nutritious and delicious! It is loaded with protein, calcium and antioxidants. Combine kale, lettuce, and cooked quinoa. Add some lemon dressing (I use one made of lemon juice and olive oil). Top it off with shredded vegan cheese and grapes.

Almond Milk Banana Hemp Smoothie
This is a simple and great way of getting your greens, minerals and protein. It’s soothing, nutritious and tastes great! I use half a banana (use a whole banana if you want it sweeter), half a scoop of hemp protein & greens powder, 1 teaspoon of coconut butter and a dash of cinnamon. Blend all ingredients with a cup of almond milk.

Vegetable Crackers with Cheese & Olives
This is a great option if you want something a little more solid. The crackers I use are from the Live Organic Food Bar and are nutritionally dense as they are made from dehydrated vegetables. I opt for a vegan cream cheese and top it off with some green olives.

Enjoy these chakra-friendly snacks!
