Is Your Root Chakra on Overdrive? Stay in the Now and Care for Yourself!

I’ve fallen sick and I’m not surprised because my root chakra was in complete disarray these past couple of weeks.

The problem was that I was trying to do too many things at once, which left my energy scattered and ungrounded. I was waking up early, going to work, coming back home, exercising, cooking my vegan meals and doing distance healing sessions. Add in some social commitments and teaching energy healing classes over the weekend  – I was left with no time to myself.

One night I found myself rushing to the kitchen to cook my meals for the next day. As I was whipping up a smoothie bowl, I suddenly felt an energy shift in my back and shoulders. I stopped the blender and contemplated what the energy was. It was tight, scattered and tense – stress.

I literally laughed at myself – I was getting stressed over making a smoothie bowl. I mean, come on. It’s hilarious how a busy schedule makes even the smallest of things seem like daunting, stressful tasks.

I also realized that I was approaching the simple task of making my meals as yet another item to mark off my checklist instead of really stopping and connecting with what I was doing.

A healthy root chakra is all about being in the present moment and grounding yourself.

I realized that instead of approaching the task of cooking with a “this has to get done” mentality, I simply had to shift my thought process over to something else. For me, it was recognizing that I was taking out the time to prepare healthy meals that would nourish my body. Suddenly, a disconnected, annoying task shifted into an act of self-love. That made my root, solar plexus and heart chakras very happy!

Always approach taking care of your body as an act of self-love instead of being frustrated or annoyed with it. That can easily happen because lets face it – you do have to take extra time out of your schedule to commit to a healthy lifestyle. It’s not always that convenient. Plus, our bodies can do very random and odd things that we don’t understand. It’s easy to get annoyed or frustrated instead of treating them with gentle, loving care.

Of course, the moment I got the sniffles I realized that I was carrying all that stress in my system for the past couple of weeks. Out came my energy healing tools and I am well on my way to a complete recovery. It’s amazing what energy healing and a healthy diet can do for you.

So if you find yourself on root-chakra overdrive, try to stay in the now and shift your perception of your self-care tasks. Taking care of your body is so important! Your root chakra will love you for it! 🙂

How to Make Your Skin Glow

Have you noticed people who just seem to glow? What you’re picking up on is the first level of their energy field, the etheric field, which is a reflection of their overall physical health and balance. It radiates through their skin and makes them glow.

Your skin can be affected by an imbalance in one or several of your chakras. These imbalances affect the layers of your energy fields, which can diminish your glow.

Achieving a healthy glow often has nothing to do with investing in expensive cosmetic products and treatments. These often manage symptoms of bad skin but don’t treat the underlying cause. In addition, they tend to be loaded with toxic ingredients that end up impacting your overall health.

Here are my tips for healthy skin:

Eat Fresh Fruits & Vegetables
Fresh fruits and vegetables allow your chakras to open up. This in turn, allows for more life force energy to flow through them and maintain a healthy state. Incorporate a variety of colours of fruits/veggies into your diet if you wish to maximize their effects on all your chakras and associated energy fields.

Avoid Dehydrating Foods/Beverages
Sugar, caffeine and alcohol close your chakras and dry out your skin. They also set your root chakra on over-drive, creating an immediate imbalance in your energy centers. Replace unhealthy beverages with herbal teas and healthy drinks like fresh vegetable juices and fruit smoothies.

Exercise
Engaging in exercise that gets your heartbeat up and running assists with your skin’s circulation, which enables the elimination of surface toxins.

Dry Skin Brush
Dry skin brush before getting into the shower or a warm sea salt bath. This practice improves your skin’s circulation and exfoliates the first layer of your skin, enabling the elimination of surface toxins.

Address Unhealthy Food Addictions
Whether it’s fries, ice-cream, or cupcakes – a lot of us are addicted to foods/beverages that are bad for our skin and overall health. If you’re eating these foods regularly, ask yourself why you feel the need for them. Tackle the thoughts and emotions behind your eating choices.

Drink A Lot of Water
Conventional medicine is beginning to recognize the connection between our gut and healthy skin. Try to have lemon water with a sprinkle of cayenne pepper every morning to kick-start your digestive system’s elimination functions. Flushing out your system regularly prevents toxins from accumulating in your body and taking a toll on your skin.

Use Natural Cosmetic Products
A lot of people notice that their skin gets less puffy and irritated after they switch over to natural products. Remember that what goes onto your skin goes into your body and affects your overall physical health. Choose natural products!

Get Energy Healing
Energy healing clears out your energy fields and any thoughts/emotions that might be causing you to engage in behaviours that are resulting in bad skin. A chakra balancing session is particularly useful for this.

Tips for a Comfortable Detox

I simultaneously love and dread detoxing. I know that the end result is amazing (e.g. better digestion, clear skin, more energy) but the process of getting there is hard work.

Here are my tips for enabling a comfortable detoxing experience:

Drink A LOT of Water
Your system needs to eliminate all the junk it’s carrying and drinking water will assist with this. If you don’t drink enough water, you’ll find yourself feeling fatigued, weak and cloudy minded.

Incorporate Herbal Teas
You can get bored of drinking only water and vegetable juices during a detox. Herbal teas add some variety to your beverage intake and contain healing properties (check out my previous post “Healing with Herbal Teas” for some of my favourites).

Exercise
Exercising will assist your body with its elimination functions and provide you with physical strength during your detox.

Be Patient
You will likely feel worse before you get better. Be patient. In my experience it takes more than a week before you notice a difference that actually feels good. Don’t abandon a detox just because you don’t see any positive results immediately.

Assist Your Skin In Detoxing
There’s no point in getting rid of chemicals in your body if you’re going to be slathering more of them on to your skin! Use natural skin products. Here’s a link to my post on some of my favourites.

I also recommend taking sea salt baths with essential oils. The sea salt assists in drawing out impurities from your skin.

You can also use a dry skin brush prior to bathing. This stimulates your skin’s circulation, which assists in getting rid of surface toxins. Focus on lymph node areas, using gentle, circular motions.

Pay Attention To Your Emotions
When you detox, things that normally bug you can magnify times ten. This is one of the reasons I hate and love detoxing – it forces us to confront those emotions that we usually stuff down with comforting, unhealthy foods. If you address the underlying emotions that are causing you to reach for unhealthy foods and substances, you will be able to commit to reducing or eliminating their intake entirely.

Get Energy Healing
Energy healing can assist with clearing out negative emotions that arise during your detox and can provide energetic support to your body’s elimination systems. I have tried detoxing with and without energy healing and noticed a huge difference. With energy healing, I had less physical discomfort, greater mental clarity and better emotional balance. I am pleased to report that my clients have noticed the same benefits.
